A damp solum (the ground under the joists of your building) can cause condensation, mould growth, rotting floor timbers and skirtings in your ground-floor area. Older properties (pre-1950) are unlikely to have a solum treatment. In newer properties the solum is sealed either with bitumen tar, which can corrode, or, more recently, a heavy gauge polythene damp proof membrane.
Our surveyors will assess your situation and recommend the best course of action to fix the problem and prevent it from recurring. Our experienced preservation team will then treat and seal the solum, preserving your property for the future.
